Today’s world and society need a soul, and that soul is Christianity based on abiding in Jesus Christ – said the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda SAC during the Appeal of Jasna Góra, on the eve of the solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Poland, which is celebrated on 3 May.

The President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference acknowledged in the Appeal reflection that “today’s world and society need a soul, and that soul is Christianity based on abiding in Jesus Christ. As Queen and Mother, you teach us this abiding and constantly remind us, as when you reminded the servants at Cana: +Do whatever he tells you+”.

Archbishop Wojda pointed out that this exhortation of Our Lady has a special meaning especially today, „when we need a renewal of faith in our families, when we are threatened by the danger of war, when we experience weakness and sin, when a culture of death is promoted through the killing of unborn children, through eugenic selection, euthanasia, when ideologies contrary to Christian anthropology are promoted, when we experience divisions and social and political tensions, when evil is preferred as good and good is perceived as evil, when children are drawn away from catechesis and the practice of the faith, and immoral and destructive things are proposed instead”.

The President of the polish Episcopate pointed out that there is a long list of sins and weaknesses that invade the heart of our people. „We are aware that if we trust in You, if we entrust all our affairs to You, through You, Mary, victory will come over all the temptations and evils that lurk around us. Therefore, we want to entrust to you the fate of the nation, society, the Church, our families and ourselves” – he stressed.
